Glades County is a county located in the U.S. state of Florida. Its county seat is Moore Haven, Florida. Glades County was created in 1921. It was named for the Florida Everglades, the subtropical marshlands located in the southern portion of the U.S. state of Florida. Glades County has a total area of approximately 986 square miles of which 78% is land and 22% water. As of the 2000 census, there were 10,576 people, 3,852 households, and 2,765 families residing in Glades County, FL.
